The Centennialight
On Monday, October 14th, Centennial High School had a guest from the University of Colorado Boulder. The former student and CU Boulder representative visited to give an enlightening presentation about the university’s programs, application processes, and campus life. The event was part of the school’s ongoing efforts to expose students to a variety of higher education opportunities.
The presenter used the presentation to shed light on what CU Boulder has to offer, such as its 230-plus majors and 70-plus minors in a wide range of disciplines-from engineering to the humanities, business to environmental science. CU Boulder provides students with options to choose from in terms of academic direction. It also boasts more than 500 student organizations and clubs representing a broad-ranged spectrum of academic and professional associations, cultural, recreational, and service-oriented clubs. At CU Boulder, students are sure to find communities that appeal to their interest and where they can connect, develop leadership, and grow their passions outside the classroom.
One of the key takeaways from the presentation regarded the application process. She led students through the process for CU Boulder applications, including materials needed to construct a competitive application and other tips. This, she said again, was where early starts were required for students to apply in summer or fall terms in order not to miss critical deadlines.
For those students who would like to join during the summer or fall semester, they have to take note of the following application deadlines:
Early Admission Application Date on November 15th
Regular Admission Application Date on January 15th
These deadlines are coming up quickly, and students interested in CU Boulder need to be well ahead and have everything completed. She invited the students to learn more about the university, to take virtual tours of the facilities, and to ask questions to CU Boulder representatives regarding their concerns about the school, the application process, or specific programs.
One of the exciting things about CU Boulder that was discussed during the visit is its very vibrant Greek Life. Greek organizations are indeed very prominent on campus at CU Boulder, where students will engage in various philanthropic events, leadership development opportunities, and social activities. CU Boulder is a very welcoming environment for students who want to be part of a close-knit community for service and personal growth.
Boulder itself is yet another exciting draw for prospective students. Voted the #1 college town in the U.S., Boulder offers a lively atmosphere combined with outdoor recreation and picturesque scenery. The welcoming, easy-going vibe of the city provides the ideal setting for studying,
growing, and enjoying college life.
All in all, the visit was a great overview of CU Boulder and what the institution has to offer Centennial High School students. Whether students were just exploring options for the future or already considering CU Boulder, the event was an excellent opportunity to learn more about what the university has in store for them.
The website of CU Boulder, information sessions, and communicating with representatives is highly encouraged as a direct way in which to get more information and questions answered. With numerous choices in academic programs, student organizations, and one of the top campus experiences, CU Boulder is a great school to consider as you continue to plan options beyond high school.
Centennial students have a great deal to consider when looking ahead to their college futures. Whether or not Boulder becomes your destination, one thing is certain: CU Boulder offers a unique and exciting college experience.
