On September 26, 2025 the Centennial Bulldogs played Central Wildcats for the famous Pueblo rivalry: the Bell Game. The Wildcats won for the seventh year in a row with the final score being 50-15.
Although the Bulldogs faced the loss, Centennial fans were proud to watch the Bulldogs score against Central for the first time in four years.
When asked what it was like witnessing this accomplishment from the student section, Joseph Maes expressed, “It was surprising because we were not expecting us to play well and it’s been a long time since we have.”
One of the players that led the Bulldogs to score was senior quarterback, Chaz Brooks, who had 7 successful passes out of 11 attempts. He moved 33 yards on the ground which was a great help for Centennial’s offense.
Another help to the offense was fullback Ezra Mestas who scored a rushing touchdown and a following two point conversion.
Another senior Jose Garcia, wide receiver and defensive back, showed how he can be a dual-threat throughout the game. He hauled 5 receptions for 115 yards and a victorious 39-yard catch. Garcia also had 6 total tackles, 4 of them being solo and 2 being assisted followed by a pass deflection.
One of his more exciting highlights was when he scored a monumental first touchdown for the Bulldogs in the first quarter followed by Ella Greenwood, kicker, scoring the extra point.
Greenwood is the first female to play in the rivalry, let alone score. Her name will go down in history.
Unfortunately for the Centennial fans, the Bulldogs could not keep up with Central’s attack. This was especially due to Central’s player, Dayton Blok, who gave the Wildcats 82 rushing yards.
“I just wish we passed more because we are not a running team. We struggle to run the ball, but we do a good job passing it,” said Centennial senior football player Ian Ramos after reflecting on the game.
When asked what went well Ramos replied, “Our passing game. The more we threw to Jose the more we gained yards, the closer we got to touchdowns, the more we started to run the ball.”
He also admitted that when the Bulldogs scored for the first time he and his teammates started to believe that they had a chance to win. He believed that was a good motivation because it was a great accomplishment and one that could keep their energy high.
Although the Bell did not return to Centennial, these highlights were sure things of which to be proud.
