Aquatic Bulldogs Dive Into New Future

The Centennialight

Centennial High School is very fortunate to have great academics and sports, including a successful Swim Team. The swimming pool was an integral part of Centennial High School and its history. I spoke with Junior Anelise Medina and Coach Camille Arnold to reminisce about the history of Centennial swimming and the last meet in its home pool.

Head Swimming Coach Camille Arnold said, “As a former swimmer, I have many wonderful memories of our pool and my time spent on the swim team.” Arnold also swam at Centennial for club practices and club meets for many years. “As the high school coach I have enjoyed 10 great years, and it will be hard to transition to not having our own pool," she said. "It will also be hard for the multiple club swim teams around who utilize our pool.”

For Coach Camille and Centennial swimmers, it will be a bit of an adjustment.

I also spoke to Junior Anelise Medina on how she feels about the future of a pool next year. She said it was very sad because this pool had a lot of history. "Our pool was the best maintained and most convenient for all the schools to compete in," she said. Medina recalls always being around the pool, even getting to see her own sister swim in our pool.

Nonetheless, the Bulldogs will swim on.
