On March 31st, 2021, Pueblo School District 60 held the official groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the new Centennial High School.

The new Centennial building is one of five new educational buildings to be built in the next few years, with plans for a new East High School as well. .

The new buildings will include state-of-the-art technology, as well as reworked Commons areas for students. The gym is going to have an estimated capacity of 1,300-1,500, and the sports fields and training areas will be larger than before.

Some students are upset about some changes to the current buildings layout, most notably the removal of the Planetarium and Swimming Pools, as well as the decrease in size of the Art and Pottery rooms.

With the extra money after realizing the cost of construction was lower than intended, D60 established plans to create new schools to replace both Sunset Park Elementary School and the Franklin School of Innovation.

A new K-8 school is being built as well, with state-of-the-art learning facilities that fit within the current funding without additional costs

Construction has started just recently, so students, staff, and the community will see how the building develops over the next few years.

The construction of the school is being paid for by the funds approved by voters in 2019.
